Uluru II

Ayers Rock

Whenever I pictured Ayers Rock I always just thought of a flat-topped, pretty boring, well ... rock. But to be on top of Uluru, looking across the top you can see deep ravines, rocky crevices, and the strangest 'shapes' that have been formed by millions of years of being rained on.

It all sounds a bit like England, eh?

And then, to top it all off, there is a painted white line to show you where to go...

Climbing up, the hard way

Of course, some of us didn't like to do things the easy way, and climbed up a really steep bit that no-one else dared to.

And didn't just take a comedy photo, oh no. We wouldn't do a thing like that...

Vicky and I, resting

Vicky collapsed of exhaustion half way along to the end of the 'walk', so I took advantage.

Of the situation.

For another comedy photo.

A tree?

And then, I find a tree?

Yep, on top of Ayers Rock grows a solitary, bare-branched tree thing.

And in the distance - nothing. This is what the view was like in almost every direction from the top.

Nothing...
